8 Weeks Flew By

I can't believe it's been 8 weeks already. I feel really good about participating in the program. I've lost a few pounds but of course will continue my healthy eating habits and will need to exercise more at home. And speaking of healthy eating habits... I've changed my eating habits quite a bit. Instead of eating off a large plate, I eat on a smaller one so I'm not eating large portions. When I'm out to eat, I try and order from the appetizer menu rather than ordering a full meal. If I order a burger, I'll take off the bun. There are so many things you can do to eat healthier. And although I'm exercising at home, my hectic life prevents me from exercising as much as I'd like to. I believe if I have a bike at home, I can ride 15 minutes here and there (like inbetween the time if takes to boil water for spaghetti and the time it goes in). All kidding aside, getting a bike for home will make all the difference in helping me obtain weight loss and after the holidays, I'm hoping that we start the 8 Week Program again.

It's over already?

The 8 Week Weight Loss Program has come to an end, and I am really glad that I signed up for it. I have earned some lifelong healthy habits and the motivation to strive for bettering myself. I am grateful to have had such a great support system even when I felt like I wanted to give up on the program and go back to my old ways. I am going to apply the useful information I was given to help me continue on my path to a healthier lifestyle. Thank you again!

It's over :( but not for me... :)

We're a couple of days away from completing the program. I must say it was a nice ride. Even though the program ended, my new healthy eating habits will stay with me.  I learned of  the importance of eating the right foods, to enjoy my meals while still eating healthy, and most importantly  maintaining a  exercise regimen. This has been a great experience for me. I feel as though exercise can now be a part of my daily routine, even if it's just for a walk. I will continue to use what I've learned from the program and incorporate it towards my everyday life. Thank you to all my  coworkers who helped make this happen!  And thank you to all my fellow coworkers who ate up all the office cookies, so I didn't have to J I have lost 7 lbs. I am a little disappointed , I know I've could've done better. But I am happy that I didn't see the 8 week program  as just an 8 week program but as a life time reminder to be a healthier, happier me! Happy Holidays!

The ending of the story

The 8 weeks went by so fast! I still remember the first class like it was last week. Since the first week I can say that I lost 10 lbs. The weight loss was a good experience for me. I learned healthy habits and I lost a few pounds too. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking to take on a new challenge.

8 Weeks of Improvements

So the eight weeks has gone by about as quickly as everything else in my life. I can't believe it's December already!

I think the best thing I picked up from this program is controlling my need for sweets. The best tip I heard actually, is this: If you feel like you need sweets after a meal, chew a piece of fruity gum instead! It has worked SO well for me these past couple of weeks. I think it's toned down my craving for sugar and helps me feel less sleepy after lunch too. Man I was eating turkey leftovers Monday and Tuesday and I swear I just about plopped my head on my desk face-down and took a snoozer.

Additionally, I like that the program has me write down how many minutes of exercise I'm performing each day. I like totaling up my minutes and seeing how much activity I'm doing. Since I sit at my desk all day (sans the daily walk to the market and around the block with Niccole's dog) I feel very tiresome and antsy after work. So it's easy for me to want to go be active but it isn't so easy for me to stay at the gym for longer than a half hour. With the program, I like being able to write "60 minutes!" in the logbook.

Improvements:

-I can now easily stay above 80 on a Standing Flat

-I drink truckloads of water every day

-Eating larger amounts of vegetables every day! Now that took a conscious effort, let me tell you. Easiest thing for me is stir-fried string beans (use just a tiny bit of healthy oil). With rice. I am Chinese after all.

Happy Holidays!!

Last meeting today!

It may be our last meeting, but hopefully the Healthy Habits will last a lifetime. See you all soon! Congratulations on making it this far!

Hello

It's been a while since I blogged... got kind of busy before the holiday. About two weeks ago I attended the Spinning® Orientation, which was on Saturday here at Mad Dogg. I was kind of afraid to take it, thinking it would be really hard, and it was hard but lots of fun at the same time. I definitely don't regret taking it. Now, I'm reading the Instructor Manual and want to pass the Assessment Test.

During the past two weeks, I had been good about exercising 5 days/week, drinking lots of water, not eating sweets and hydrogenated fats. However, the fours days of Thanksgiving were the hardest days because I didn't exercise, didn't drink enough water, and eat sweets. This is the last week of the 8-week weight loss program and I need to dedicate myself 100%.
